We specialize in marrying couples!! We provide a package deal: the marriage license AND the required ceremony! Getting married consists of two parts:
1) Getting the Marriage License (we can provide the marriage license with our package deal, or you can get a license yourselves at the county offices)
2) Having the ceremony (aka "solemnizing the marriage")
Breaking this down, the Marriage License gives you permission to have the required ceremony (which can be as little as just getting an "I DO" from each of you). Whoever does the ceremony (ordained clergy person, rabbi, judge, etc), signs off on the ceremonial portion of the marriage license and turns it in to the county recorder's office.
Getting the marriage license alone does NOT make you married!! Its only a "license to have a ceremony" at that point. Once the ceremony is performed and the minister, priest, rabbi, etc signs off on the ceremony section, the "license" then becomes the marriage "certificate" and voila - you're married!
The traditional way to get a marriage license is that both you and your fiancee' appear
together at the county clerk's office during normal business hours and spend an hour (once its your turn in line) getting the license prepared. This means precious "business hours" time, usually involving time off work! You cannot appear separately, you
must appear together and have all the required info available. Spending quite a bit of time at the County Clerk's office is not unusual! Oh, and you have to be at the window by 3:30pm in order to get the marriage license that day, or risk having to come back
together the next business day in order to pick it up!
-OR- have your marriage at my office/chapel. We can issue the marriage license (we're authorized by the Los Angeles County Clerk's office to issue confidential marriage licenses) AND perform the required ceremony in our
chapel area or just do the legal minimum ("I DO's") at my desk.
